Oxford QFI Research Forum
July 16-18, 2025
Forum Overview
Qatar Foundation International (QFI) partnered with the Department of Education, University of Oxford to host the Oxford QFI Research Forum 2025 in July.
The Forum brought together educators and researchers for three days of collaborative, thought-provoking sessions focused on one of the most urgent questions in Arabic language education: How can we bridge the gap between research and classroom practice?
The Forum progressed through three key phases, each designed to connect research to practice and support long-term collaboration.
Day One:
Ecosystem Mapping
Participants built foundational knowledge through the Study of Arabic Language Programs (SALP), examining preliminary findings and identifying common trends across different country-level contexts. This phase highlighted the critical elements needed to support Arabic education ecosystems and set the stage for evidence-based strategies in instruction.
Day Two:
Learner Motivation
Participants explored psychological drivers that influence student engagement and success.
Discussions focused on translating research insights into practical approaches that educators and researchers can apply to maintain motivation across diverse learning environments.
Day Three:
Tools for Practice
Participants translated insights from the Forum into actionable strategies, focusing on integrating research into everyday teaching.
This phase emphasized capacity-building for educators, researchers, and partners, ensuring that the knowledge shared can create lasting impact in classrooms and communities.
Across all three days, participants examined how research can drive meaningful change when it connects directly to students and classroom realities.
Each session moved beyond theory, making research accessible, actionable, and empowering, while reinforcing the importance of collaboration.
