Day One: Ecosystem Mapping
Day one established foundational knowledge of Arabic language education around the world through ecosystem mapping.
Representatives from the Study of Arabic Language Programs (SALP) shared preliminary findings. Five of the six SALP country-level teams (CLTs) presented on common trends across countries and provided insights into what is fundamental to supporting Arabic education ecosystems.
Attendees also heard from researchers in countries outside of the SALP – Germany, Australia, and Indonesia – to gain perspective on the issues faced in these countries. They found the SALP reports applicable to supporting Arabic education ecosystems in countries outside of the Study. Participants reflected on the overall state of Arabic language education outside of the Arab World.
