Foreword
Letter from the Executive Director
Dear Friends,
In 2023, QFI launched its 10-year strategic plan, a roadmap designed to advance the value of teaching and learning the Arabic language as a global language in primary and secondary schools.
Our efforts were driven by a set of clearly defined objectives and initiatives underpinned by our organizational values and guiding principles to raise Arabic’s visibility, support educators, and enhance student learning experiences in collaboration with a diverse group of stakeholders. We also launched an ambitious research agenda. This research agenda was carefully devised to enrich the body of literature on Arabic language education at the primary and secondary levels. It will inform our future work as an organization and contribute evidence-informed best practices for the Arabic language classroom.
As we shared our objectives and initiatives with the communities we serve, their resonance affirmed that we were on the right path. The feedback we received not only underscored the potential of our collective efforts to make a tangible impact on how Arabic is taught and learned, but also instilled within us a hope that the power of our united voices can shape a global narrative.
Our achievements in 2023 stand as a testament to what can be accomplished when passion meets purpose. From fostering strategic partnerships that are transcending borders to launching new research initiatives that promise to bring the theoretical into practical application through our programs, workshops, and community engagements, we are building a solid foundation for our future work in Arabic language education. Our story of change will be one of transformation, collaboration, and perseverance. It will reflect a deep-seated belief in the power of education and Arabic’s unique role in enriching learning experiences and global dialogue.
In 2024, we remain resolute on this journey, driven by our unwavering commitment to ensuring that Arabic is offered in classrooms as a global language. This commitment is bolstered by a dedicated team at QFI and a community of invested stakeholders who share our vision of advancing Arabic as a global language taught in primary and secondary schools.
To everyone who has been a part of this journey—from our small yet mighty team to partners, stakeholders, educators, and students: Thank you. Your support and dedication have been crucial to our joint success. Together, we move forward, ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead as we continue to champion Arabic as a global language.
